Denning Auto Glass began in 2003 when Lou and Rose Denning started the business out of their garage at their home in Girard. It was a tight space, but it worked perfectly for handling one job at a time. During the summer months, much of the work was done outside beneath a large tree. The left side of the tree became Bay 1, and the right side became Bay 2. What they lacked in space, they made up for in determination, hard work, and pride in doing the job right.

At the time, the idea of owning a larger shop was simply a dream. There was no clear vision of where the road would lead. As the business grew, however, there came a turning point. The question was no longer whether there was work to be done, but whether there was enough room to do it. Faced with the choice of limiting their customers or taking the next step forward, Lou and Rose knew it was time to grow. While Lou was hesitant at first about moving, once the transition was made, it became clear that being in town allowed them to serve the community far better and be more present for their customers.

One Sunday after church, Lou and Rose drove past what is now Denning Auto Glass at 21 S. Hudson Street in Coldwater, Michigan. A large sign in the front window read FOR RENT. Rose took down the phone number and called first thing Monday morning. They arranged to look at the building, and a decision was made. The opportunity felt right. They shook hands on the rental price, confident in the direction they were heading. A few years later, they were able to purchase the property, solidifying their place in the heart of the community. From that moment on, the excitement of what could be took over, and the rest is history.

For Rose, moving into town marked an important milestone for the business. Having a physical location in the business district elevated their professionalism and made Denning Auto Glass a more accessible and visible part of the community. Customers no longer had to travel outside of town, and the new space provided a welcoming lobby, clear signage, and a setting that reflected the quality of work being done inside.

Today, Denning Auto Glass continues to operate with the same values it was founded on. Quality workmanship, integrity in every business practice, and a commitment to putting customers first remain at the core of everything they do. Lou hopes the business is remembered for its quality work and for treating every customer the same, with honesty and respect.
